Chairman's Notes - Season 2016/17

This season we are entering our 13th year in Division 1 of the WRU National Leagues. May I take this opportunity to offer a warm and sincere welcome to all Vice Presidents, Patrons, Sponsors, Members, away supporters and everyone from our Mini & Junior Sections.

Last season on the playing field was once again consolidation for our First Team in Division 1 West of the National League. Having finished mid-table, I think this season will be a challenging one to try and finish in the top 4 with the new structure in place. The Development Team finished the season in a strong Swansea & District League and this season will continue in the league. Our Youth team last season was in the Scarlets Region - East Carmarthenshire League. The Youth this season will be in their "2nd cycle", thus only losing 4 players to the senior teams. Keep up the good work all you players and coaches!

Our coaching staff this season consists of Rhys Phillips, Ian Jones, Aled Tinnuche and Sherwyn Smith, with Alex Lewis as Team Manager. Youth Coaches are Colin Davies, Gareth Austin and assisted by Nigel Phillips. Graham Davies once again is our Youth Team Manager & Fixture Secretary.

The club Chairman of the Junior Section is our ex Prop forward Nigel Edwards, and Vice-Chairwoman Adelle Evans. This season we are fielding Eight Mini & Junior Teams which is highly commendable and a credit to everyone involved. May I thank all the Mini & Junior coaches and committee for their continuing support.

Our Social Club although seen a downturn in sales over past seasons keeps striving on with Social events for all within our community.

Finally may I show my appreciation to our Club President, Richard Phillips and all my loyal Officers, Directors, and Committee for their continual commitment which make Llangennech RFC such a great club to lead.
